Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
If we are honest, I’m sure most of us would acknowledge that change is hard. We all have features, characteristics and traits that even the most contented of us would desire to change. They may be physical attributes; they may be habits that are unhealthy but we find difficult to overcome; they may be personality traits that we recognise within us as being negative and undesirable. But change is hard to come by.
Perhaps there is no harder change to engage than the change required in our Christian journey. We know what is required, yet it is so hard to become the Christians we want to be. But there is good news! The change that needs to take place will be done by One who is more able than us. He will do the ‘changing’, we just have to let Him. It may be painful; it may cause discomfort; but it will be worthwhile. The Apostle Paul promises us that He who started the work of change within you, will not be deterred! He will continue chipping away until ‘the day of Jesus Christ’, at which point you will be exactly how He wants you to be!
