Easter Egg
When you think of the month of April, what is the first thought that comes into your mind? Maybe April “fools” day if some believe in that day. Or it could be the end of the tax year and beginning of the road works mayhem that could delay your journey. For students it is a break from studying or a revision period. The most important event in April is the resurrection of Christ. Christ died for each and everyones sins when he died on the cross and reconciled us with God when he was resurrected three days later. Easter is not a time to eat Easter eggs and bunnies but to study deeper and to cherish and appreciate what Jesus did for us. The New International Version (NIV) says: He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem”. Luke 24:46-47
Matthew 28:1-7 summarises the story of the resurrection of Christ: There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
Nothing else could bridge the gap that sin had wrenched apart; Now we can freely go to God, and receive Christ in our hearts.
